Welcome to 44th Parallel Cross Country Camps
Who is the Camp Director:
Ray Antel, Founder
Coach Antel has been taking runners to this camp since 1993. Over the years he has streamlined the schedule of a 24-Hour day and created an atmosphere that is conducive for high-intensity workouts, fun on the Lake Michigan Shoreline, and quiet, reflective moments that many times get overlooked by today’s student-athletes. During his 12 year coaching career at Kelloggsville (D3), his athletes enjoyed winning numerous O.K. Silver Conference Championships, 4 Regional Championships, and 1 State Championship. All-State Runners like, Derek Thomasma (16:45), Joel David (15:39), Anthony Winters (16:19), Nicole Bush (17:41), Amy Tomlinson (18:58), and Alexis Smith (19:36) started each of their seasons with a week at this camp! Antel draws upon many philosophies of running and training and believes in individualized running programs for his former athletes at Kelloggsville and his current runners at East Kentwood (D1). Coach Antel enjoys running throughout the year but especially with the other 200 members of the Wayland Road Runners, every Wednesday night throughout the summer for the past 9 years. He currently serves as the Cross Country Committee Chair for the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association.
